For 50% of the US population, literally, you just partied or are prepping for the hallow-traditions tomorrow. You spent lots o’ time and/or money around costumes and treats. You’ve been running around like crazy to make sure your kid is their favorite character this year. Holiday setup and cleanup for retail employees. Students have mid-terms. If you’re a teacher, themed lesson plans and, to top it all off, grades are due. Whew. Even writing this is making me tired.
This year, Halloween did not fall on a weekend...get it? GET IT? Ok. Never mind. Halloween falls on a Tuesday, the day after the longest day of your week! How will you survive aside from the sugar highs o' candy binging? We’re going to try to make this as painless and as sustainable as possible.
Substances are your go-to. OK, fine. Try to stay away from anything that’ll make you crash. Choose teas - try to get them lightly caffeinated (AKA steep for less time) or cut your coffee intake in half with decaf or fillers (teas, milks, honey...) that aren’t sugar saturated. Trust, I love me a cup o’ joe, but when you hit it hard, you’ll collapse harder. You can also switch to fruit for your morning sugar rush. A gentler way to gain some go-gas is Ginseng or Royal Jelly. Goal: aim for long-term stable energy.
Want to try a more grounded approach that’s FREE? Many of us lack some of the necessities that we need for energy. One of those necessities is Vitamin D. So, you can go buy some supplements OR, on your break, if it’s a possibility, go outside and turn your back to the sun. Breathe deep. Thank the star above for giving you heat and the immense energy boost you need for 5 minutes, no less. Sun not an option? Get some fresh air from the grass and/or trees - again, breathe deep. Thank the nature that exists or your higher-power for allowing you to gain energy from this beautiful world around you (trick-of-the-trade for these natural options: connect the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth for a focused absorption…just trust me on this one).

Another FREE option for the disciplined; those who are able, Power Ranger your day. “Power up” with a power nap and morph into a chipper critter. Getting at least 10 minutes in can refresh those who are disciplined enough to wake back up; napping over 35 minutes can bog you down again; consider yourself forewarned.
Looking for ways to energize while you are going about your business? You don’t want to ingest your energy and don’t have time to grab some nature or a nap. What can you do? If you don’t mind spending the cash, you can turn to essential oils such as French Basil (avoid if pregnant), Citrus (lime or orange), Peppermint (Spearmint for children), Rosemary, and Cedarwood - therapy grade for best results.
They will all work individually or in a blend like a perfume, or put it in your diffuser. Look online for oil recipes.
Got rocks? There are crystals that are believed by earth-lovers to have revitalizing properties. You can carry these guys around in your pocket or as jewelry. Amethyst, Citrine, Ametrine (Amethyst and Citrine had a baby), Garnet, Rose Quartz, Golden Tiger Eye, and Pyrite are great buddies to supplement your energy.
